7 Things Successful Women Do On Weekends

Are you someone who starts counting the number of days left to go for the weekend right from Tuesday, heck even Monday sometimes? Well that’s how most of us are. Sleeping in, lazing around, binge watching TV, eating out, what’s better than a lazy weekend. Well, all of that sounds great, but as much as weekends offer us an opportunity to get that extra sleep and be lazy, they also offer us a chance to meaningfully relax, refresh and rejuvenate ourselves for the next new week ahead. Here are 7 things successful women do on weekends to recharge and prepare for the week ahead.

1. Wake up early

Successful women wake up at the same time every day – be it a weekend or a weekday. The fresh morning air can do wonders for your body and mind. Michelle Gaas, President of Starbucks, says that for 15 years she has been waking up daily at 4:30 a.m. to go for a jog. Most successful people stress how important it is to wake up early daily, the weekend being no exception. On a weekday, even if you wake up early, you might feel like you still have a lot of things to do before you leave for work in the morning. On a weekend though, waking up early means that you get several extra hours for yourself. So, don’t wait to catch up on all your lost sleep by sleeping in this Saturday morning. Instead, make it a priority to get enough rest every single night of the week, and maintain your sleep schedule even through the weekend.

2. Set aside quality time for your loved ones

How much time do you actually get to spend with your family on a normal weekday? Use the weekend to get a few extra cuddles in for your loved ones, eat your meals together, talk to your kids about their school and plan fun activities with them, ask your husband how his work has been treating him. Ideally you would make little time for these things daily. But, weekends can be an extra special time for you to spend more time with your family and friends. A lot of successful people try to disconnect themselves from their work and spend quality time with their family on the weekends.

3. Take your fitness routine up a notch

Staying physically fit and active is essential for good health. And you need that in your journey to success. Many successful women make use of their weekends to work out a little more. It is good to have a simple daily exercise routine that takes little time out of your busy day. Weekends though would be a great time to hit the gym and spend some more time on your workouts. The impact of a good workout on your body has to be experienced to understand its significance.

4. Make time for your hobbies

Hectic office days would have pushed your hobbies to the backseat. Dig them out. Make use of the weekends to do something you love doing. Pursuing your hobbies can be a great way to unwind and rediscover yourself. It leaves you feeling relaxed. And, doing something you love would leave you feeling positive. Read the book that has been lying on your bookshelf for ages; take out those rusted paintbrushes and paint for a while; there are several interests that you unknowingly bury due to your busy routine. Delve into them during the weekends.

5. Try something new

Have you ever wanted to learn something new but never found time for it? Do it on the weekends. Learn a new musical instrument. Learn a new language. Acquiring a new skill is a great exercise for the brain. So you get the double benefit – you get to learn something new and you get to refresh your brain after a long tiring week.

6. Go somewhere new

Travel is a great stress buster. There are a lot of ways in which travel can make you better on the whole. Go some place new. Travelling to a new place can alter the brain. Research shows that travel improves creativity. It makes you feel light. When you travel often, you start becoming open to new things. You adapt to changes better. So, plan a trip this weekend to start the next new week feeling happy and truly recharged.

7. De-clutter and get organized

Cleaning is therapy for the mind under stress. Clean and declutter your desk. It makes you feel good. The clean desk after you finish would give you a sense of achievement. Get organized. Make a weekly plan. This would help you prepare for the week ahead.

Most successful women use the weekend as an opportunity to relax, reflect and rejuvenate. They use it to catch up and gather all the energy they spent the entire week. Give all of your gadgets a break. Turn off your social media and actually get social. Catch up with your gang. Use the weekend well to prepare for a great week ahead.
