Dear Friend,
Question: How do you contain a mighty tree?
Answer: You put it inside a tiny pot!
Here’s a fun fact about Bonsai trees…
Bonsai trees are often miniature trees that are potted and shaped to create beautiful, unique pieces of natural art.
They are believed to bring good luck and positive energy to those who care for them, and that’s why people often keep them inside their homes.
But did you know, if you take the same bonsai tree and plant it in the ground, it will grow to become a full-sized tree!?
Similarly, a little fish bowl may keep a gold fish tiny,
but you put the same fish inside a lake, and it can grow to become a hundred times its size!
Which got me thinking…
What contains our growth?
What is that fish bowl or pot that is limiting what you can achieve?
I believe our growth is in direct proportion to the size and the nature of our goals.
Give yourself a small goal, and you will only grow enough to do what it takes to achieve it.
Give yourself a mighty goal, and it will compel you to push yourself beyond what you thought was previously possible, and help unleash significant personal growth and mastery.
And that is why I’m a big believer in setting audacious goals, as our goals become the biggest containers of our growth, even if you miss the actual target.
I’m no longer shy about saying I’d like to positively impact millions of lives, and build a multi-million dollar business in the process.
Do I actually care about the monetary aspect of the goal? Not really.
Do I care about the limits I’ll have to push to achieve this lofty goal? Absolutely.
And the good news is, unlike a Bonsai tree or a goldfish, we don’t need to depend on someone else to move us into a larger environment.
You can move yourself into a broader domain and grow to your full potential.
Simply give yourself a bigger goal to go after.
So, what about you? How do you decide what kinds of goals to go after?
