Dear Friend,
There are TWO kinds of GOALS you can create…
There are goals you create out of DESPERATION.
And then there are goals you create out of INSPIRATION.
Goals created out of DESPERATION feel heavy.
Often, these are not authentic goals or goals you want,
but goals you feel you HAVE to achieve
for external approval
for external validation
They take the form of “Shoulds”
I should be married by age X.
I should be at this stage in my career right now.
I should be a certain size.
I should do it all, and do it all by myself.
These goals come from a place of lack.
You feel you aren’t enough,
and you need these goals to make you feel whole.
Problem is even when you meet an externally-motivated goal,
the sense of lack does not go away.
And you then reach for even bigger “should” goals
Out of an even bigger sense of desperation.
The treadmill of
striving – achieving – emptiness
striving – achieving – emptiness
striving – achieving – emptiness
feels endless.
Then, there are goals you create out of INSPIRATION.
They lift you up
Fill you up, and
Move you forward
from within.
They make you feel light, expansive and energized.
They are not a means to an end, but an end in itself.
They are why
Dancers dance,
Writers write, and
Creators create
You don’t need these goals to make you feel whole.
You already are whole.
And you create from that place of wholeness, of abundance, of joy.
And in the process, you end up
Inspiring others
Uplifting others
Serving others
too.
What kind of goals are you pursuing?
What is a goal that inspires you?
